Intelligent Orthopaedics is the home of STORM (Staffordshire Orthopaedic Reduction Machine) and the flexible external fixation system IOS. The company was formed by an orthopaedic surgeon and two engineers in 2005. STORM span out from fracture healing research conducted at Staffordshire University, The University Hospital of North Staffordshire and Keele University.
STORM is an innovative fracture reduction device & the solution to reducing tibial fractures with precision. Storm can be used with MIP, IM Nails, External Fixators and Frames. Features and Benefits include:
- Anatomically accurate reduction of tibial fractures (plateau to pilon) > optimises healing environment and minimises post operative complications
- Shortened (up to 50%) and reproducible operating times > effective planning of operating theatre use
- Simplified operating procedure > consistent results allows fixation of choice (internal and external) removes the need for a traction table
- Better fracture reduction than other techniques
- Facilitates medical training freeing trainee to learn and practice instead of holding the limb
- Eliminate Risk associated with Manual Handling Hazard (where a traction table is used)
